Every step we take is guided by the roots that shaped us and the ancestors who walked before us
Got a Question?
Here’s a few Frequently asked Questions. If you don’t find the answer here, just drop me a message
Yes I do. Just give me what information you have and I will take it from there ! The more details you give me beforehand, the further ahead I can go, So try to gather as much information as you can before contacting me. You’ll get better results that way
Unfortunately not. My work focuses on tracing family lines through historical records.
Adoption research involves sensitive legal pathways and specialist access, so it falls outside my scope
I have been researching my own family tree for over 30 years, long before the days of the internet. Around 10 years ago I worked as an Heir Hunter – not as easy as it looks on the TV Show! The biggest hurdle was getting people to actually believe I was genuine! Very rewarding though – you hear such fascinating stories and that is what it all about for me. The story.
No, I will communicate with you by email and if I feel I can help, we have a free 15 minute consultation on the phone. Then you can decide if you want to go any further. Absolutely no pressure.
Yes of course! If you are researching your family history yourself, you will always come up against a few of these, and sometimes it just takes another pair of eyes. You can book me for a one to one consultation and we can work through it together. I may not always be able to smash through the wall but I will certainly be able to give you some guidance.
I suppose my specialist area would be Northern Ireland Research. If you’ve ever had to try it, you will know what a minefield that is. So many townlands, so many obstacles, and most patriarchs had 10 grandsons with the same name! I relied heavily on forums when I first started – and slowly but surely it all started coming together. It is now definitely my favourite area to work on – and I visited there for the first time in spring 2025 retracing my ancestor’s footsteps, which was a very powerful and rewarding experience.
Yes I can do that – sometimes you have a lot of the details but not the resources to validate it. If you provide as much information as you can, I will do my best to find it and confirm your hunch – or maybe put a spanner in the works and voice my concerns! but the biggest rule of Genealogy, as far as I am concerned is, verify, verify, then verify again. Don’t just believe what you are told or see on other people’s trees. If you then want a copy of any documents, I can usually do that for you as well.
Sadly not – if you have already tried researching your own family history then you will know how much time it takes and unfortunately that doesn’t always end up with perfect and complete results straight away. Some families have rich documentation, others have very little, and we never know that until we look — but you’ll always receive all the findings available in the time frame I have. Even after 30 years there are still areas of my own tree that have big blocks that I just can’t get past. BUT I WILL !! That’s what it is all about, trial and error, passion and persistence. I am just another tool in the box to help you get there. If you have no desire to research yourself I will absolutely give it my best shot with the large tank of resources and experience I have to work with. But in this area of research there are no guarantees. What IS guaranteed is my promise to treat your story as if it were my own.
